Above I have place my take on a self-shape. I decided to use MS paint instead of hand drawing because my artistic skills are not good but I think these shapes have very meaningful connections to my life. Overall the drawing is supposed to look like a solar system because I really wanted to become an astronomer when I was younger and now it has become one of my favorite hobbies/topic outside of school to research. Our universe has always been one of my biggest interests because of how truly unknown and massive it is so it has become a major part of who I am. I used the rest of the symbols in this solar system to show different parts of my life and other things that I care about. To begin I put a red dot in the middle to look a sun since everything in a solar system revolves around the sun. I chose a red dot since my house that I grew up in is red and my family loves the color red. I chose to put this in the middle since my whole life revolves around my family and I think red is the most representative color of our family. Another planet that I made on this solar system was a light green to represent a tennis ball. I have played tennis since I was about 6 and it quickly became one of my favorite sports and I have not stopped playing and watching since. Tennis ended up being a very large part of my life because it taught me how to work hard for something I want and gave me many friends and mentors over the years. The dark green circle is their to represent my high school colors/my hometown. I have lived in a small town called Grayslake since I was about 5 so It has had a huge impact on my life now. My family is from India so Grayslake has been where my family has grown and learned about America. This town is nothing special but the people in it truly are. My parents came from India to Chicago in 1988. Illinois has always been my families second home and played a huge role in not only me and my brother's lives but my parents and their siblings lives as well. There are two bigger circles that the solar system is formed by. Those two circles are blue and orange to represent the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I gave this the biggest circles because although my past is very important to who I am the present is much more important to me. I am a senior here at UIUC so I have lived here for a long time and have grown to love this place. I feel like a much different person after college and it became the most important part of my life from the first day. The last symbol that I made a large graph of a positive trend upward and this shows my interest in economics which is my major and the stock market which I see as my second job and second major interest. I made sure to make the graph an upward trend because from here on out my life will only get better. Overall this assignment was very insightful into my life and If you want to know the basics about me this shows you almost everything. This assignment was very insightful because I usually do not think about all the different important factors I have had throughout my life so It was very nice to think about the great parts of my life and be appreciative. At first I thought my drawing was very basic and kind of bad but after realizing how important each symbol was to my life I was much more happy with it. After discussing with other groups most people did a very abstract drawing that was similar to the class example and I liked taking a different approach to the prompt. Some additions/changes that I would make to my drawing would be moving the Grayslake green dot to the orange outer circle to represent UIUC and Grayslake separately but when put together they would be the colors of the India flag. Another addition I would make is adding in an orange circle for basketball because that is my favorite sport overall but I did not play it as much.
